You seem to have moved Wisbech. Although you show the yellow blob of Wibech correctly, a search shows it at the site of Crowland Village

I have it correctly at N524012 E0000943 rather than N524012 W0000936

How can we get this corrected?

BTW - just downloaded the latest Beta - looks good. I will update if I find any issues

Thanks; we've actually already sent this correction to the vendor of our gazetteer but can't guarantee when the data will be updated.

This seems to be a very common problem - just look at the location for Cardigan, it's marker is about 20 miles from the correct location, Bangor seems to be in Anglesea and quite a few towns appear to be offshore!

Hi Tim,

With regards to the correction you talked about above (25th October), how widespread are the corrections as there appear to be countless towns with locations in the wrong place. I'm running SD Plan version 1.4.4.26597 and can see a huge number of inconsistencies just in my own local area. It looks to me like something more deep routed than just a few errors here or there.

Cheers BJ

There are actually two separate issues here I believe.

The first is like the location of Wisbech; there are a few instances of towns being in completely the wrong place. These are errors in the gazetteer data we use. Although we have submitted corrections to this, nothing seems to be happening, so we are considering how we can correct the problem on a town-by-town basis at our end.

The second is minor errors such as the location of the towns adjoining the Menai Strait. Our scenery data, which includes coastlines, is small scale and can be out by as much as 1nm. We don't consider this a problem because our aeronautical data is precise, and that's what we concentrate on, but it does look pretty poor when this can result in town waypoints appearing like they are just sitting in the sea (because the coastline is wrong, usually not the town locations). Alderney airfield is a prime (and embarrassing) example of this, as the airfield appears to be in the sea. This is because our coastline scenery data is slightly offset in the area; our coordinates for the airfield are correct.

The first issue we are in the process of working out how to solve ourselves locally. The second issue stems from the world scenery data we use. Licensing larger-scale scenery data is not currently on the cards I'm afraid, though we do continue to look for the best sources of this data all the time.

Hope you have all had a nice Christmas, still not flown with my new skyDemon but will be doing on Friday. Just one comment whilst checking the chart today. I was looking for my son's house in Sandbach, Cheshire (about 4 miles N.E. of Crewe) When I noticed that the 'yellow dot' for Sandbach is actually the village of Wheelock just outside the town, and that the actual town is missing, Do you know if this will be corrected in the next version? If not I can live with it, but just thought I would mention  it in case you were unaware.  I still think this is an excellent product and eagerly await the next release. Thanks for the hard work you put into this.

Happy New year to everyone

Neil

I'm pleased to say that we now have the ability to correct these incorrect town locations and have done so with all mistakes so far submitted to us. These corrections will be in the next chart update (Jan 13).

Excellent news Tim, thanks. The yellow dot for Oswestry could also do with moving a few miles Northwest so it's overhead the town.
