I have loaded SkyDemon onto my AV8OR and it seems to work pretty well. You need to get yourself a spare SD card, load SkyDemon onto it as you would for any other device, then rename the SkyDemon folder to GoFly. Within that folder is the SkyDemon program file (SkyDemon.exe), rename this to GoFly.exe and you're sorted.



Then you can choose which SD card you put into the AV8OR, although I seem to have to manually set up the GPS each time (I have found that COM2, Baud Rate 4800 seems to be the only setting that works).



Overall it works pretty well, the resolution is a bit lower than some, but it is certainly bright enough and with the extended battery seems to be good for over 4 hours.



I have had it just crash out of the program a couple of times though, going back to the main menu, forcing me to restart SkyDemon and the GPS etc, which is a bit of a pain, but I can't see what is triggering it. The only other slight issue I have is the continual "Redrawing Map" messages as it seesm to take an age (actually probably only about 10 seconds!) every time I scroll around the screen, but then my cheapo Chinese unit was exactly the same.



Overall I think it is a truly superb bit of software though, and can't imagine I'll be reloading the Bendix King Software very often.

Probably best to ask KevWal on his thread then as he's obviously done it.



If you copy the SD and try to boot from it, what are the symptoms?



Did you do a bit for bit copy or just drag the files across?

You cant just copy the SD - as BK state, something is written on first boot. I have tried

By the way, you can try it without upgrading. If you haven't got a valid licence, the mobile software will run for ten minutes (I think) before exiting.

Have you tried just copying the SD card?

Its an interesting idea, although I would need to upgrade.



However what about the BK software? They dont allow you to copy/restore the SD card, so it is a one-way operation. I paid loads of dosh for the BK, and dont want to throw it out the window yet.



Is there any way to install on a spare SD card, AND get it to boot? Could one do the same with the NavnGo software as well?
