Mike, the wind display is based on a forecast model, not a calculated value. This means that if you didn't receive a weather forecast on the SD wou won't have winds. Also, actual wind may sometimes be quite different from forecast ones. So take the wind display with a grain of salt.

In navigation mode (iPad mini) the wind sometimes displays and sometimes just shows a cross. And yes, we had a 20kt wind, not light and variable. Sometimes it works all the flight. Sometimes none of the flight, and sometimes it works for part of tthe flight and then just packs up. Any clues?
