Weather & Notam sync seems a bit hit & miss  .. may be my fault of course.

Just updated v735 Mio to 1.4.3 (Oct 6) and then tried syncing. Said it worked OK but Notams & wx not available.

Only way I cd get them was to remove the files from the card and re-sync.

My fault or yours?

There was a message saying syncing these was not successful but was too techy for me.

Worked without a hitch on Navigon 8410.

Will keep u posted re subsequent v735 syncing.

Syncing is simple. It just copies the files to your device alongside your routes. Obviously is a sync is not successful, then something happened to stop SkyDemon transferring all the files. When a sync is complete (and SkyDemon is running on the device) it will make a noise and notify you that the new data is being read.

The only way NOTAM, TAF and METAR wouldn't be available on the device after a sync (assuming the data was actually part of the sync) would be if the device date was set wrong. After all, you wouldn't want SkyDemon showing you a briefing it believed to be out of date (or not yet valid).

Not sure its as simple as that.

Only when the notam & weather files were physically deleted from the SD card and the card then resynced (via card reader not active sync), did the notams and weather briefing appear on the device.

So is something recorded on the SD card re last known date and if its too long ago, is the data not synced?

On the other hand, 8410 worked OK (but it was already updated to 1.4.3).

Anyway OK now but worth noting for others.

Note also that there was a note on the device saying the data had not been transferred (found by tapping in bottom left of device).

Nothing is recorded on the card about a last know data date. The files are simply written, every time, overwriting whatever was there previously.

Is this the same device that produced random corrupt files all over the place?

No the corrupt files were on 8410 (see previous posts).
