I decided to add the Post Code find feature to locate the nearest airfield to an address in northern England. To check it worked, I entered my own post code (RG45 6PT) which is for Crowthorne, close to Bracknell, Berkshire.

The list started like this:

Lasham, Charlgrove, Heathrow, Benson, Odiham, Northolt.

There was no mention of Blackbushe, Farnborough, Fairoaks or White Waltham all of which are closer than Charlgrove and in the case of Blackbushe and Farnborough, both are only a few miles by road.

This raises the obvious question of why these airfields were missing from the list but also is the list supposed to depict the closest airport first? Is so, Charlgrove should have been towards the end of the list not second.

Anyone else using this function had a similar result?

(Using Skydemon PC version 3.0.6.0)

You're right. The "Nearby Airfields" bit in the Waypoint Finder was originally intended as a "nice to have" addition to the postcode lookup, and no sorting of the results was applied; it just showed the airfields within a certain radius in no particular order. I agree it would make sense for them to be sorted, so in the next version, you'll see them sorted with the nearest first.

How about the missing airfields? Did they not make the list of "found" airfields because the length of the list and lack of sorting resulted in them dropping off the end or were they missed because the search did not pick them up at all?

Probably as you say, they simply dropped off the end because we limit the number shown to 10 (or similar).
