Win8 and Win 8.1

Qtrek Blue GPS S3 Bluetooth GPS receiver.

Tablet Asus TF810C Vivotab

This was quickly identified by Win8 no conflicts and works well (used COM8 baud9600 on this tablet). Have used it for 12months for both SD and MemMap no problems. Good battery life.

£15 - £25 but might have difficulty finding one now

I've successfully used the following GPS devices in Windows 8.1 with Sky Demon (via COM port).

Bad Elf GPS Pro 2200 - Bluetooth (needs an Apple device to manage the Bad Elf)) - but excellent for Aviation, Cycling and Walking etc (also tracks) and supports multiple simultaneous devices (Apple, Windows, Android), selectable up to 115200 baud

GlobalSat BT368 (Bluetooth) 4800 baud

Nikon GP-1 USB direct connection (normally used to geotag photos when attached to a Nikon Camera) 4800 baud

GlobalSat BU-353S4 USB direct connection (excellent precision) 4800 baud

Hi, I have found a Bluetooth GPS receiver (GlabalSat BT368i http://www.expansys.com/globalsat-bt-368i-bluetooth-usb-gps-receiver-windows-mac-wm-symbian-palm-linux-blackberry-178392/). Does anyone know if this works with SD?

With any Bluetooth receiver, if I pair with the device and my Win 8.1 tables (full windows 8.1, not RT), will the device show up at a COM port?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

As SD doesn't work with the internal GPS sensors in win 8.1, can anyone suggest an external GPS sensor that has a proven track record on windows 8?

What sort of sensor do I need to look for?

Thanks for your help.
