I am using an Archos 7 70 by Arkon. Have a look at it on this link http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Blackberry-Playbook-Arkon-Windscreen/dp/B004M8ST36/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1379262516&sr=8-2&keywords=arkon+mounts
It is very robust, has a good sized suction pad and doesn't vibrate. Also highly adjustable.

Hi Rob

I fly a flexwing with my Nexus 7 device running SD mounted in a Brodit mount. It's very easy to fit, adjustable (for a viewing angle) and sturdy.
Can't recommend it highly enough. Have a look here ...http://www.brodit.com/product.html?id=511412&pn=prod&brand=Google&model=Nexus%207

Cheers

Paul

How are people mounting their Android tablets in the cockpit?

I'm not bothered about knee-boards for the purposes of this thread.
I understand you specifically excluded knee-boards, but I have mine in a fold open case. I then just fold the case right back under the unit, and put this under the clip on my A5 kneeboard, beneath the plog.

The Nexus then sits on top of the plog, and I can just flip the Nexus out of the way to write on the plog etc. Only issue I have is that this often causes screen presses, would be nice to have the option in SkyDemon of 'locking' the screen somehow, with only a small area being active to unlock it again.

Other than that, it's worked well for me using it this way. Glare isn't so much of an issue (even though the Nexus's screen is pretty good anyway) as it's generally down out of the sun, and if necessary I can move it around if conditions are particularly bright.

I currently have a SkyDemon MD and use the mount that comes with that, but the only Nexus 7 / generic tablet mounts I've found on the web all look a bit flimsy.
