I enjoy the Track log feature of SD for iPad which saves the flight track and depicts the "breadcrumb" line on the SD map. To enable a more detailed post-flight analysis, however, I normally run the MotionX GPS app in parallel with SD during flights.

A noticeable difference between the two track logs is the much better resolution of the MotionX breadcrumb line. Whereas it in SD appears jagged, the MotionX track line is smooth. When emailed to myself, however, and opened in Google Earth, the resolution is as good as with MotionX. Why doesn´t the track log appear smoother when depicted in the SD app on the iPad? Another question; would it be possible to add an option to email the track log in KML format to be viewed in Google Earth with altitude data intact?

The track log depiction within the app has been improved in the next version.

With regards to getting altitude data into Google Earth, if you go to www.gpsvisualizer.com and upload the SkyDemon GPX file, it will allow you to download a KML file with altitude data.

Thanks for the info, Steve. It would, however, be quite trivial to produce a KML output option for SD that already includes altitude data.

I just followed to suggestion to convert a SD GPX file using GPS Visualizer, but when I load the resulting KML file into Google Earth, it appears not to contain any elevation data. It would therefore be be useful as suggested to automatically attach a KML/KMZ for the email option like MotionX offers.
