I’d say this is actually more a defect than a feature request

- do not allow an item to be marked green unless the previous once has been checked.

I wouldn't like this. Sometimes I decide to do certain items later. Maybe moving to the next checklist section shouldn't be possible.

I’d challenge that. A checklist order is important. What if you forget to go back to the item you’ve missed? How would you know? At the moment the SD checklist lets you merrily scroll past items

no. I create checklist sections that fit on the screen. From there, I only proceed when all green, but the order is mostly irrelevant.
pe. do you close doors and windows in 40deg OAT before the master switch comes ON because the checklist says so? Or you just tick it and think "I'll do this later"?

I’m in the UK so if it’s 40 degrees I’d go for the engine fire on the ground checklist Smile

Ok you make a fair point.

However I’m using a iPad mini and can’t fit most checklists on one “page”.

Perhaps a compromise would be an “alert” when you move focus to inform that you’ve not completed it?

Would not prefer forced sequence either. Treat infight as check list, not to do list anyway. But would like a way to just check next on a lager button og maybe by speak, rather than having to place finger on exact item.

Having a way to start a sequence (play function) where system calls out the next item and throug voice or a larger button could check the item. I would use that for pre flight and startup. Likely not in flight, where I just perform the task and verify by looking at the list, not checking any items.

That’s a good point.
I don’t use SD checklist at all for preflight - don’t want to carry iPad around the plane.
I use it for startup and power checks. I use it for after landing / shutdown.
In theory I’d use it for emergencies
I don’t use it so all during flight.

I’m also a flight instructor. I currently follow along when student is doing startup and power checks to firstly catch and misses but also reinforce use of checklist - which is our flying school SOP.

So I think my ask is

Per section, and option to switch on a check/alert that all items have been ticked when you move away from that section. Making it optional gives people a choice. Making it per section allows for some checks to be prescriptive (power check) and some to just scroll through etc

I’m would use voice checks. If it’s a to do list I would probably move faster than the voice and how would it know how long to pause for say a carb heat check etc.

A 787 is less complicated than you guys are turning a Cessna into.
