Did anybody try to (wine/qemu?)-wrap the Skydemon PC version like it was done for the unofficial Mac version and let it run on Raspberry Pi OS?

Ok, disregard the question. I had a closer look into it and it does not look worth is. Maybe one can do that but maintaining will be a mess. I now went another approach with getting a very cheap small Windows PC on a stick to run the Plan version.

Small update as I had some time to spare. Running TwisterOS (deb) I was unable to install Skydemon, mainly because many needed winetricks links did not work, looks the distro although claiming to include Wine & Co is not well maintained enough.

Someone managed to install SD in linux, using wine

But I think the biggest hurdle is the architecture. SD for linux/win is compiled for x86/x64 arch, not for ARM32/ARM64
:-(

There's an increase in the number of hardware devices becoming available with Arm64 architecture, notably the Microsoft Surface range of laptops.

I know that SkyDemon can be installed on these devices and as a native  x64 application would run on that architecture via the emulator integrated into the arm64 version of Windows.

What might be the impact, if any, on the performance of SkyDemon in this emulator environment and secondly, are there any plans to release a native arm64 version of SkyDemon?

I’ve just bought a lower end Surface laptop with the Snapdragon chipset, as despite being a Mac user of many years, became fed up with running VMs to support the Windows applications that I have to run.

SD runs perfectly well in Windows 11 on it, I’ve not noticed any glitches, rendering issues, or sluggishness. Everything works as it should. I don’t have a similar Intel architecture machine to compare against but performance wise it’s snappy.
