Hello,

the recently added checklist feature is a great addition, but the relevant checklists have to be manually dug up. It would be convenient to have the possibility to attach optional "conditions" to when a checklist should be presented to the user automatically, which could make using this feature more seamless.
Some potentially useful conditions to automatically open a specific checklist I can think of include:
  • When pressing "Go Flying" - e.g. start the track off with doing a "Before Engine Start" checklist
  • When the plane starts/stops moving - e.g. for taxi checks or shut-down checklists
  • On a timer - e.g. for regular checks in cruise including fuel transfers
  • When/before reaching a specific phase/altitude/location of a planned route - e.g. for a descent check before reaching the planned top-of-descent or showing the approach checklist along with the proximity-induced approach tools
  • After the last (or a specific) item on another checklist is completed - currently it's just down to properly ordering checklists
  • Also having the checklist view hide automatically when ticking off a specific item could be useful
I hope some form of this principle could be conveniently integrated into SD!

Cheers

I agree — I actually thought this was the whole point of having checklists in SkyDemon. The only other reason would be to include the checklist in the log.

I also think that timers, as well as the newly added reminders, should be able to trigger checklists.

I’ve been using Goose CoPilot, which does offer this functionality. They have some fantastic ideas, like automatic “pre-landing,” “after landing,” and “final approach” reminders. But the app is so poorly designed that it becomes unusable for me — almost too many features, implemented in a way that makes everything complicated. Still, it’s a good source of inspiration, even though you have to discover most features on your own because the documentation is minimal.

I think there could well be a benefit in making checklists active on 2 occasions.  These would be set up:

1. In the "Timer" setup.
2. In the "Reminder" at a waypoint.

That said you can write a reasonable amount of text to be displayed in the timer/reminder text but maybe more complicated checks for some would need a formal Checklist shown.
