I miss an option to be able to use the scratchpad even outside of flight mode. I write e.g. Liters of petrol after refuelling. tacho time before I leave the plane after the flight I can write data I like to use after the flight. Easy to have the data collected when it's time to log in. Now I have to constantly start airplane mode to access the scratchpad

I would like to support this idea. As the scratchpad is now stored with the flight log since V 3.16.14, May 2024, one could easily add notes which were special for this flight. This could be observations made during the flight, after landing, during pre- post-flight or "lessons learned" etc.

If one could even fill the scratchpad already in planning mode it would make some additional paper notes obsolete.

You do know that you can add notes to a flight log for recording the sort of things you describe, don’t you?

These can be entered with the keyboard, but on the right devices can be written in with a device stylus or pencil and will transcribe to typed text automatically.

You can also access the scratchpad outside of flight mode via the ‘Logs’ menu.

Yes I know that, but can I also add content in the scratchpad before the flight - in planning mode?
It would be helpful to access that from within SD while flying.

Yes, if you use the scratchpad accessed as above in planning mode, the content is retained if you then open it in flight mode, and again after the flight is completed.

Thanks, that helps. I will use it for my next flight.
The current manual is somewhat "thin" about this nice feature.

From p.84 of the manual:
. Scratchpad
…..The contents of the canvas are retained until you manually clear it…..…..The contents of your scratchpad can also be accessed in Planning mode, via the Logs menu.
