When fuel is an issue, It's nice to have an actual estimate of the fuel required to fly to the alternate.
Sometimes a direct to the alternate is not possible.
Unless I'm mistaken, there is no way to plot a routing to reach the alternate.
Why? Would it be difficult to implement that?

You could create a two-sector route, using the ‘land here’ feature for your destination, and the end destination your diversion.

You’d get a separate fuel plan for each, but you could just add the enroute element of the second sector to the first for a better approximation.

i asked for this awhile back too.
it's more of an issue with IFR planning, so Tim's defence would be that SD is a VFR tool.
would be a reassuring feature to have without having to have two routes ready and messing around during an flight diversion
