I run my SD planning on a WIN7 netbook and sync to a chinese satnav unit. Having updated (sync) the satnav unit from the netbook, I can see all the user waypoints I've created but not the airfields that I've created using the custom data function. However, if I select a route to an airfield I've created then the route will load and I can fly it, but the actual airfield symbol and name are not there. So, my route ends in the right (blank) place.

Am I correct to assume that custom data airfields should show on the stanav unit once it has been sync'd from the netbook? If so, what might be causing this problem?

This is from a post I found by searching for custom data which you subscribed to on 26th January on this subject.

From Tim ::: Custom data, including airfields, isn't synced automatically to a device. We leave this to users who are creating such data to do themselves.

You can't change the airfields that are part of the standard SkyDemon charts; if you have extra information or corrections to give us please get in touch by email

Thanks NJE, at least i know what the problem is. just have to figure out how to put the data into my GPS unit now.

Can anyone suggest the likely functions/route to use in order to put the custom data onto my GPS? It's the usual chinese satnav with SD running on the SD memory card in it.

I've never done this before but I thought I'd give it a go and it works.

All custom data is stored on your PC in a folder called 'custom data' so to get the actual data over to your GPS device we need an equivalent folder on it.

So connect your device in the 'activesync mode ( or using the card in your reader)and have it open on your desktop. (just take up half your screen and then you have the other half to view the skydemon files from your PC.

Find the following folders on your PC, Documents> Skydemon>custom data. now just copy the 'custom data' folder accross to your device by dragging and dropping it into the Skydemon folder.

Re sync your device and it will now appear on your chart on your device.

There may well be better or easier ways to do this, but it worked for me. Give it a try and I hope it works for you.

Good Luck

Many thanks, that is the sort of process I visualised. Will have a go.
