Hello,

I have been using SD on my Android phone and want to purchase a tablet.. I have been told that the ipad must be cellular and wifi in order to be able to use SD.

I do not own an ipad and would probably just buy a 'tablet' for SD and use my phone (Android) as a backup. I wondered if anyone has used the Hudl 2 with SD and how the performance compares?

I would be appreciative of any other tablets that could be recommended.

Thanks.

Pete

If you don't have an electrical system in your aircraft you may be interested in the Lenovo Yoga2 family of Android tablets. They have a very long battery life, I see 40+ hours after a charge. Skydemon runs nicely on the internal GPS but an external GNS2000 is even better.

...only if you want to use an internal GPS. The non-cellular version of the iPad works fine with an external GPS.

Personally, I've been very satisfied with my Nexus 7.

We have a Hudl 2 in the office and it's great. SkyDemon works really well on it, almost as smooth as on an iPad.

Whilst we have being having the external GPS problems with the iPad (now resolved) I have used my huawei media pad that I got free with my EE subscription. I think they cost about £99, it works with its own internal GPS or external Garmin glo and performs well although I have to say that I haven't fully tested it because I've only done a few local flights recently.
