I sometimes wonder if the legal status of UKDAs is deliberately obfuscated by the CAA.
For example, finding out if a DA is "subject to bye laws" (ie a crossing clearance is required) is made quite difficult.
Using traditional methods, you either have to look at the legend at the bottom of the half-mill to see if there is an asterisk against the number, or you need to look in UKAIP ENR5.1.3, to see if there is a Statutory Instrument applicable (having read ENR 1.1.5.1.3.1.3 to ascertain that that is what meant by the SIs in the Remarks.)
However, on SD I cannot find a way of getting at this information at all. Is it hidden away somewhere?

It is quite an important distinction in the UK.
I have written to DAP to get a view on their attitude to flying in DAs which are not governed by byelaws.
