Windsocks showing windspeed

Ive noticed a while back that at certain airfields the wind is displayed next to the windsock - totally excellent and I really like this!

My questions are:
what is the update for this?
It doesnt seem to show gusts when I look - or have I not seen that yet?
Also, where do the feeds come from?

Ive also noticed the windsocks move and change direction (awesome!), however when its across the runway they are obscured by the runway - example on the attached image I took a little while back. Makes it hard to see their direction.

I do love this feature !
