Jeppesen's is a NOTAM source used by some other aviation software

Jeppesen get them from the same place others do.

Eurocontrol have explained that many US NOTAM are not in an ICAO format and cannot be distributed internationally. However, they have said that KMMK was missing from their data and have requested it from the FAA. I have asked that they check they have all internationally-distributed US NOTAM in future.

It's not just the smaller uncontrolled airports such as MMK that it is not picking up...

The largest airport in Connecticut, Bradley BDL, a Class C, is showing some 30 field related NOTAMs on the FAA site none of which appear on SkyDeamon.

Are you sure those are ICAO, internationally-distributed NOTAMs?

Well, they are direct from the official FAA NOTAM website.

That should be THE source for US NOTAMs, I assume.

Bradley is a huge international airport with flights coming in from all over all day long.

As to the data format, I'm not an expert on that.

All I know is I'm not seeing any useful information for NOTAMs on Skydeamon here in the US. That may get me into trouble some day.

SkyDemon isn't really designed for use in the US. We are aware that there are US NOTAM that are not published in the same format the rest of the world uses, and we definitely will not have those. We also do not have TFR information in SkyDemon, which is intended for the European and African markets.

However, I will make enquiries about the status of KBDL NOTAMs.

Eurocontrol confirm that KMMK is now added to their database but that there are currently no valid ICAO NOTAMs for that airfield.

I don't really understand this whole ICAO format thing.

Why the data the FAA here in the US provides is not compatible with SkyDeamon when all other navigation options my pilot friends use seem able to work with it is confusing to me.

Anyway, thanks for responding to my concern.

The other navigation software you refer to is probably designed for the US market, so includes support for US peculiarities. SkyDemon does not; we only have basic support for US operations.

If I do a NOTAM search for a given airport (I'll use KMMK in Connecticut) on the FAA website I find a whole list of issues to be mindful of concerning work on the facility proper.

That same search on Skydeamon for a route direct to that same airport pulls up none of this information. All I seem to get is ATS Route closures, which as a low flying VFR pilot, I have no real use for.

Where is Skydeamon pulling this information from and can it do a better job?

Thanks
