New iPad Thunderbolt connections

I have just replaced my old broken iPad with a new one, whose only physical connection socket is a so-called Thunderbolt socket (based on usb C, totally different to the 'Lightning' socket). There is no audio-out socket, instead the Thunderbolt socket is used with an adaptor.

The adaptor method works ok, but in use it prevents the iPad from being charged at the same time. In practice that means that in order to feed SD audio into the plane audio system, you cannot also keep the unit on charge.

Most of my flights are only an hour or so, but occasionally I go on much longer trips, and also sometimes I forget to make sure the iPad is fully charged before flight, so it's a problem that needs addressing.

Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a solution?

Regards,

Robin.

I've found a (hopefully) suitable adaptor now. It has a usb c plug which goes into the iPad, and a pair of short cables which terminate at a 3-pin audio socket and a usb c socket.

NIMASO USB C to 3.5 mm Jack Adapter, Typc C to 3.5mm Aux Headphone Adapter Hi-Res DAC Chip PD 60W Fast Charging

Amazon or ebay at £14.95.

If it works I'll report back for anyone else who has the same problem.

Robin.
