What's in a name?

Even though in the (European) aviation world we use "SkyDemon" - or SD in short - in normal conversation, I cannot help but wonder where the name comes from. "Sky" can easily be linked, but "Demon"? If anything, this software is better called SkyAngel or SkyGuide. Please do explain as I am sure I am not the only user wondering about this name.

Sky Angel was a US operator of Christian television networks and Sky Guide is a current star gazing constellation finder app, so there would be scope for confusion.

Great feedback, thank you! But why SkyDemon then? There must be agreat story behind this name...
