Runway and crosswind component

Hello,

Very windy days actually in Belgium.
In navigation mode we have a wonderful tool that give us the wind in two differents formats.
One of these is the decomposition between front and crosswind components.

Do you think that it would also be great to have these two values for example when we chose the runway (in approach mode) when we are in flight ?
Or/and in the Airfield informations during the preparation?

I know that it will be just an information based on nearest metar or something like that... but probably a help to chose a good destination related on the airplane type.

Thanks for your great job

Surface wind is extremely variable based on local conditions and it not be particularly safe for us to offer the surface wind at a nearby airfield, in order to help you calculate potential cross and head/tailwind components at another airfield.

Agree. A small two text fields when one could put wind direction & speed and then get it calculated would be good though (would only stay there for 5 minutes and then one would have to put new values in manually again). I've just checked Approch Information for EGSS, it shows "Surface Wind: 090, 10kt". Perhaps it should marked the values as obtained from METAR ("Surface Wind: 090, 10kt (METAR)") and both values should be editable. In case there is no METAR for a given airport these would be empty and one could put them in manually. Even if there is a metar one should be able to change them (in which case "METAR" would change to "MANUAL" or something like this).

It's a small improvement which would save having to use another small tool.
