Yes, you can do this in a number of ways. Perhaps the quickest is to briefly touch your route leg to unlock it, at which point you can drag the route leg to the new waypoint.

Alternatively you can press and hold on the new waypoint, and one of its routing options will be to insert it into the nearest leg of your route.
