If you're seeing that message, it means your iPad doesn't have a GPS chip. Simple as that. If you have an external GPS receiver you should still get a GPS fix, but we can't tell from within SkyDemon whether you're using one or not.

It's not the latest version where we have added that warning; it's been there for quite a long time.

I use SD version 3.11 on an iPad 2 WIFI. 
Previous versions of SD had always worked fine on this iPad.
To improve GPS accuracy I use a external BluTooth GPS receiver. 

Since this version I get the message 'Waiting for location data. This iPad does not have a GPS chip' when I push the 'Go Flying' button.
Even if the BT external GPS receiver is successfully connected it is impossible to navigate inflight.
Strange because this, as indicated here above, always worked excellent.
