I am using Skydemon Plan for PC Version 3.9.4.0 I used to be able to download flight logs from my Skymap, the manual says that I still can, by selecting " Retrieve Log from Connected Device" in the Analysis menu. That option does not appear in my copy of Skydemon.
Has this very valuable option been removed?

Yes, I believe that option disappeared when our logging engine was rewritten earlier this year. I will ask my colleague to update the manual.
