Is there any way to switch out the new automatic route zoom when approaching an airfield? (Introduced in Android version 3.8.2)

That is not a reason to disable automatic zooming, that's simply a reason to quickly zoom out (which will suspend automatic zooming for some time) by pinching or pressing the zoom buttons.
