If I am in flying mode and want to insert a user waypoint to the current route - tap and choose Insert - I can do so on my iPhone, but cannot on the iPad? Both running latest version of the software and iOS802.

The Insert in Route function is present and correct on both platforms, so I'm afraid I don't understand your question. Perhaps you could give us precise steps to reproduce the issue, including setting up the exact route you've got and what waypoint you're trying to insert.
