I'm not sure about the previous versions, but with 3.0.5/Android, any altitude > 9999 is truncated (the last number is not shown, 12345 would become 1234).
Changing the font size or showing less information does not help.
As a side note: I had several GPS receptions issues during a previous flight and I've realized that SD is not verbose at all in that case. The small triangle next to the altitude is red, but it's everything else is just "frozen" even if totally outdated (position, speed, ...).
It could be nice to have a more efficient notification in such a situation, in order to improve awareness, as a loss of fix could lead to annoying (not to say more) situations.
