Route change while flying

I have recently flown around the Scottish isles with a friend who was using an alternate navigation and flight planning system. I was interested to see that while in navigation mode he could change his route and make a diversion by touching and dragging. Unless I am missing something I found I had to click on stop navigating >change my route which reconfigured the map> re adjust everything and then go back into flight mode. It seemed that for him he could simply drag and change the route and nav and route info followed. Am I doing something wrong?
His system also had the ability to show radar weather such as rain patterns etc, good stuff
Ps. Have just downloaded the version for my iPhone and am pleased to bits to have this as a back up. Well done to skydemon.

I believe click and drag is disabled when flying to prevent accidental modification of the route.

You can add waypoints to your route by long holding on them, and using the menu that pops up. Similarly, you can remove waypoints by long holding and selecting the appropriate option.
